One of my Og's - Meet Alexander Wang
Around the time I was getting into Fashion, there was Alexander Wang. The American-Chinese designer dropped out of Parson's after two years to launch his label with knitwear in 2007. Soon after his designs were sort after, no mean feat for an up and coming designer. Winning the CFDA Fashion Fund in 2008 the designer expanded his label extending to ready to wear and handbags. Wang's aesthetic was a rebellious tomboy who was shrouded in black but in recent years it has evolved with collections including brights, western themes, sports luxe and capsule accessories. I have collected many Alexander Wang pieces, whether it be from his mainline and diffusion T by Alexander Wang. His label balances the fine art between luxe designs and affordability. There's always an element of contemporary cool-ness with his designs. With each collection, the brand seems to take another turn in defining what the cool kids wear.
